Most of you Perthites out there know that last Monday (22/3) the weather was CRAZY! Most of you probably got stuck in it on the way home. Some of you may have even been pelted with golf ball sized hail as you drove along the Mitchell Freeway… if you were a wuss like me (and so many others), you may have even had to take a small breather in the Tunnel before you decided to keep driving while being only 10% hopeful that the hail wasn’t going to follow you.
Maybe we saw each other in passing. Maybe not.
Most of us have suffered damages from the wrath of the storm. This blog in no way makes fun of that situation, it merely re-tells an amusing anecdote that SURPRISINGLY (not really) relates to John Mayer and Perth – which fits in PERFECTLY with my campaign!
If I’ve learned anything during this freak golf ball sized crazy hail storm, it was:
- Perth drivers are MUCH MORE considerate of each other when the weather decides to attack with such ferocity (I was a little proud!).
- Perth people band together to help each other out when things get chaotic!
- We ALWAYS find silver linings… and a way to make money out of them! (The Hail Sales)
AND most importantly for the purposes of my campaign I learned that:
- You can’t hear your John Mayer Battle Studies CD over the sound of denting metal and torrential rain! (My only source of comfort in amidst the violent storm!)
I also learned that every time I saw a lightning strike on the way home last Monday (and there were quite a few!) I started singing Heartbreak Warfare…
“Lightning strikes
Inside, my chest to keep me up at night…”
…and it seems I may not have been the only one! It was a tiny little bit weird when a certain Perth radio station played this song after a segment about the storm!
Good to know we are all on the same wavelength, Perth!
Don’t know if John Mayer will ever decide to come to Perth and sing to us about lightning in person, but I do know one thing – if its NOT John Mayer keeping us up all night, its certainly crazy golf ball sized hail storms… especially for those of us that live in houses with aluminium roofs!
Random blog.
Stay safe people and keep taking care of each other!
Wishing you all minimal fall out from storm damage!
